Port Throughput Upgrade Definition Scope, Schedule & Estimate

Challenge:

The Principal required the works to be completed on a live plant where possible. The Principal project team required DFS scope assembly, nominating of tasks to be completed inside shutdown and outside of shutdown periods, design review and option analysis of the design, project schedule development and cost estimation development of the entire project.

Our Solution:

Development of the execution strategy for the project.
Electrical reticulation review for the new infrastructure.
Design review, queries and resolution.
Drafting package review.
4D program development in order to plan the scope.
Work packaging of the design, fabrication and methodology for each non-shutdown and shutdown work front.
Overall project cost estimate development as well as cost estimate development for each work
package for fabrication and installation.
Estimate of vendor equipment for the works.
On site execution planning and reporting for the large shutdowns.

The Result:

The Principal commented that the collaborative approach had led to the following project successes:

Cost of the Execution was within 5% of the estimated cost provided by Consilium
The work packs developed allowed the Contractor and the Principal to understand the detail in the Scope in an accelerated period.
The 4D plans allowed the team to relate the scheduled tasks rapidly and look at logic and timeframes very closely.
The input into constructability allowed 10% reduction in overall scope execution to be completed outside of shutdown periods.
